  • 1 - How do I set up iDcrm ?

    1 CHECK YOUR USER RIGHTS

iDcrm CRM only needs you to have Read rights on Entities, Attributes and Relationships.

To check these rights, just follow this procedure:

In the main window of Microsoft CRM click on “Settings”.

    Screenshot iDcrm

Then click on “Users” and select your user record to open it.

    Screenshot iDcrm

On the left of the user record, click on Roles and open the role (or roles) that has been attributed to your user. Then Click on the customer tab and check if entity, attribute and relationship are green. Screenshot iDcrm

          Screenshot iDcrm

    2 CREDENTIALS AND FILTERS

To connect to Microsoft CRM, you need to select your connection type. Microsoft Dynamics CRM is available via 3 connection options:

Screenshot iDcrm1.On-premise - that means that your Microsoft CRM is hosted on your company's servers and you are logging in with AD (Active Directory) authentication. In internet explorer you either log automatically or you get a pop-up window for your credentials.

2.Internet Facing Deployment (IFD) - that means that you're connecting to Microsoft CRM via Internet Explorer. In MS CRM you get an username and password webpage to login the CRM.

3.Live which is the old name for Microsoft CRM online. You can recognize this by the URL. It will be https://yourcompany.crm.dynamics.com

    - Enter the server address:

Your server address must be correctly entered including all the http:// or https://. If you have 2 addresses to connect to MS CRM (one for internal use and one for external) you will have to choose only one. You can already change the server address anytime you want in the Setup area of iDcrm

    - Enter your credentials (Domain name, User, password):

Your user name is the one you're using to log in MS CRM. If you never have to log in MS CRM it means that your using an On-Premise version and in this case your credentials will be the one you're using to log in your computer. You need a domain name only for On-premise solution.

Then you can either click on continue to use the default synchronization filters or you can adjust them.

You need to understand that even if iPhone is a powerful device it can hardly replicate your CRM server that is usually a Bi-core server with huge amount of memory. That's why you need a minimum of filters.

These filters will be used by iDcrm. If you want to change them you'll need to redo an initial sync.

    Default filters are:

1.All the records you have access to (for all available entities like activities, etc.)

2.Your Accounts and contacts only (in order to filter a little bit the data size)

3.Opportunities created the last 1 year

4.Activities created the last 6 months

5.Type of activities that will sync (emails are not synchronized by default)

    3 SELECT YOUR ORGANIZATION

Microsoft CRM is a multi-tenancy software so your company can have “multiple” CRM on the same server, so select the right one.

After these 3 steps, iDcrm will build its database based on your own Microsoft CRM (data, fields, language, list values etc.) that’s why it can take some time.

  • 2 - I have followed all the setup steps but still can’t connect to Microsoft CRM ?

Usually this happens for the following reason:

    - your CRM is in your VPN and your iPhone is not.
Ask your IT department to give your iPhone access to your VPN. If they don’t know how to manage iPhone or don’t feel secure, ask them to go to http://www.apple.com/iphone/business/

    - you’ve mistyped your server address or you can’t access to your CRM server from your iPhone.
Type your server address in Safari. If you can’t see a Browser error message from MS CRM it means that your iPhone can’t connect to MS CRM. In this case check with your IT department. If you can see the message and still can’t connect to CRM from iDcrm, contact us at support@numenes.com

  • 3 - iDcrm crashes during the intial sync or the initial sync takes more than 2 hours!

Usually this happens because of the amount of data you’re trying to synchronize. You must understand that an iPhone is not a Large enterprise server so you can’t (you can but it is not recommended) replicate your full MS CRM on it. 80000 accounts on the iPhone is not a normal amount of data.  Please try to use the sync filters to reduce the number of records. Try also to use the Business unit logic to reduce the amount of records available in Microsoft CRM.

  • 4 - Why can’t I edit / delete some records ?

iDcrm respects the security structure of Microsoft CRM but we’ve added 2 core constraints:

    - you can only edit records you own.

Why? Because of the way the MS CRM webservices provide the user rights on a record. We are working hard to find a solution to resolve this issue.

-you can’t delete records in iDcrm (except activities you own)
Why? Because we wanted the IT department of your company to feel safe about the security and integrity of the Data of your CRM.

  • 5 - How can I organize the Home screen the way I want with more entities (like Cases)?

In iDcrm 1.2.7 we’ve added a new feature that let you customize your home screen.

    1 ADDITIONAL ENTITIES

If you want to add more entities to iDcrm (like Leads or Cases), you need to create them in iDcrm.

    1. Go to the setup area  Screenshot iDcrm  select  Screenshot iDcrm  click on Screenshot iDcrm
    2. Select the entities you want. iDcrm will ask you to specify the sync filters
    3. Build the entities.

    4. You go to the edit home screen button on the left corner of the home screen to add them.

    2- HOME SCREEN OPTIONS

    What can you do?

    - Add / Rename / Delete entity groups

    - Add /Rename / Delete entities

    - Add / Rename / Delete websites

    - Change the order

  • 6 - I have a "Connection Error" or "Connection Lost" message

If you receive the following messages during the initial synchronization:

    "Connection error, request expired https://mycompany.mydomain.fr:5556/MSCrmServices/2007/CrmService.asmx"

    or

    "Connection lost https://mycompany.mydomain.fr:5556/MSCrmServices/2007/CrmService.asmx"

It is due to an interference between iDcrm and the Outlook plugin.

We have been able to reproduce this issue with the following scenario:

When you have Outlook opened somewhere (either on your local laptop of in a Terminal Server / Citrix environment for example) and the MS CRM Outlook plugin is installed, this will connect to the MS CRM environment every x minutes. Since this connection is similar to the connection iDcrm uses, the iDcrm connection is broken and a time out occurs.

So please make sure you have no Outlook Clients with the MS CRM plugin opened and try the initial sync again.

  • 7 - How can I change the way List are displayed in order to use it the way I want?

In iDcrm 1.2.7 we’ve added a new feature that let you customize all the lists in iDcrm (except Opportunities and Activities).

Screenshot iDcrmTo edit a list click on the filter button on the top right  Screenshot iDcrm

     Which options do you have?

    - FiIlter attributes: you can use almost all the available attributes of an entity to filter them. Like “ALL accounts WITH Status EQUALS active AND relationship type EQUALS (Customer AND Prospect). Then the account list will only display the relevant accounts.

    - Change the grouping field: by default iDcrm groups records by name but maybe you want to change it (like for Cases where most of the companies use the Case ID). The grouping field is the field used for quick search.

    - Change the fields displayed in the list. You have 4 available areas that you can arrange the way you want.

  • 8 - iDcrm crashes every time I click on an account or contact

Everytime you open iDcrm it shows you everything, but as soon as you go into account or contact the application will crash and shut down.

This is because you do not have the correct access level to CRM. You have to have read access on the Entitities, Relationship and Attributes. Check to What user rights do I need page to get instructions.

After you have corrected the rights you will need to do a full synch to get it all working in iDcrm.

  • 9 - What user rights do I need to use?

    CHECK YOUR USERS RIGHT

iDcrm CRM only requires Read rights on Entities, Attributes and Relationships.

Then Click on the “Customization Tab” and see if your have the required rights.

  • 10 - What can't iDcrm do?

    What can't iDcrm do?

To make sure expectations of our product are correct it is important to know what iDcrm is not and what we do not support.

iDcrm is not a replacement of your Microsoft Dynamics CRM client. There are things you can not do in iDcrm.

    iDcrm does not support:

    - Java scripts, iFrames, plugins

    - No office integration

    - Does not run workflow locally, but can initiate workflows on the server.
