Microsoft Dynamics CRM for iPhone

We were too enthusiastic when we’ve estimated the time requested by the version 1.3 and we are sorry for that.

The main reason of the delay lays in the initial concept of iDcrm.

iDcrm was made to be a plug & play software that replicates (almost) everything you have in MDCRM. One of the main requirement is that it should not require a server component and so doesn’t need to be “setup” during 4 to 20 days.

Today, if your Microsoft CRM system has workflows or plug-ins they should work fine with iDcrm thanks to the Silent sync and this initial concept.

The problem is that a lot of customizations in Microsoft CRM are made in Javascript also. iDcrm is an iPhone native software so it doesn’t handle javascript. Futhermore the Javascript of Microsoft CRM is not “standard” Javascript but “Internet Explorer” Javascript, so even if we move some parts of iDcrm to html, Safari will not accept non standard Javascript.

That why we’re facing an issue. So we are currently writing a specific library to convert IE Javascript to Safari Javascript. And it takes a long time....

Apart of the Javascript, the other main feature of 1.3 is that is will be an Universal application ( iPhone / iPad ) so we need also the rewrite the interface for the iPad. We really believe in the success of this new platform.

But we can’t let users waiting for too long a new release. That’s why we’ve decided to build an iDcrm 1.2.7 which will contains a lot of new features and improvements.

A next post will detail the coming features of iDcrm 1.2.7 and we’ll keep you informed about the 1.3

Thanks for your confidence.
